P is a very common trouble code. It is a generic code, which means that it has the same meaning for the Nissan Navara as it would any other vehicle. A circuit malfunction implies that there is a wiring problem coming to or from the EGR system. That does not rule out the EGR solenoid itself. As far as the average do it yourselfer being able to diagnose the cause of this code, it can be tricky since a good vehicle scanner and Ohm-meter can make the job a heck of a lot easier.
Most of the time, there will be no noticeable symptoms accompanied with P, with the exception of the service engine soon light itself. While not typical for any other symptoms to show with the P, it is possible that the Navara will misfire if the EGR system is stuck open. The issues that are going to cause P are going to have to do with the EGR solenoid, or the wiring going to or from it.
While it is possible for something else to cause P, these are far and away the most likely reasons for the code to populate. This causes the ignition coil to provide a spark and the injector to inject fuel into each cylinder at the right time. If either sensor isn't working correctly, the car will run rough and the engine will be less efficient. In later car models, the car's computer can usually keep the vehicle running, but the engine warning light on the dashboard goes on to warn the driver. Our certified mobile mechanics can come to your home or office to perform the Check Engine Light diagnostic.
P is Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Performance, indicating a problem in the fuel pressure regulator system. The P is a diagnostic trouble code DTC for a fault found with the fuel pressure regulator. The fuel pressure regulator regulates how much fuel is delivered to the fuel injectors. The ECU controls the fuel pressure regulator and when a fault is detected the P code is set.
This code will remain until the problem is resolved.
A qualified mechanic will begin by hooking up an advanced level scan tool to find any codes stored in the ECM. Any codes present will have its own freeze frame data that tells the mechanic under what circumstances the DTC was set, like RPM, vehicle speed, coolant temperature, etc. Upon the code returning a visual inspection will be performed looking for any damage or leaks from the fuel lines, damaged fuel pressure regulator, or restricted lines.
The fuel pump output will be checked using a scan tool, as well as the fuel pressure regulator to check for proper operation. Common mistakes are easy to make when performing diagnosis. They happen when steps are not followed in order or are skipped completely. Though a failing fuel pump is the most common cause proper tests must be performed on the fuel pump before it is condemned and replaced.
If parts are replaced before they are tested it can be a waste of time and money and not fix the issue present. P may be an indication of a failing fuel pump. Once the fuel pump fails the vehicle may stop running while driving or fail to start and run. The other symptoms such as poor vehicle running, misfire, lean, and rich conditions can cause the vehicle to become unsafe to drive. Two specific tools will be necessary to properly diagnose P First is a manual fuel pressure test kit.
This will allow for fuel pressure readings to be taken at the fuel rail. This is critical for accurate testing. The other tool required is a professional level scan tool. Advanced scan tools allow live date to be seen and changes over time. Scan tools allow us to see things such as sensor data, fuel pressure, voltage, ohms and other important information. Some codes are model specific but many are generic so while searching would be made even easier if there was a thread like this for each model having only one also makes sense too as it would eliminate some need for double and triple listings of all the generic codes which are common to all manufacturers.
So come on how about it, lets try listing some fault codes and maybe even some solutions if you have them so those asking the question might just find an easy source of answers. As far as I am aware there is no listing on this site where people keep asking for the codes. As yes there are different codes but there is also generic codes for all manufacturers, how they get listed makes little difference but a central resource would be handy for those who don't have, or choose not to download the ESM's or have the code reader documentation.
D22 is especially different as they are not OBD compliant, there for generic codes are not correct. I agree, A central resource would be handy and might stop some of the threads on the same topic or stop 1 thread per fault code.
